Community Events Sponsored by Newnan Utilities

Luau

Every summer since 2001, Newnan Utilities has brought a bit of the tropics to Newnan with our annual Luau, held in Newnan Utilities’ Carl Miller Park.

During this evening of tropical fun, Newnan Utilities brings in tons of sand to create a festive Hawaiian atmosphere for the community to enjoy, all for free! A live band entertains our guests, as they kick off their shoes and enjoy our very own beach party in a festive Luau atmosphere. “It is a great evening of family fun...a summer tradition in Newnan,” said Joni Scarbrough, Facilities Manager for Newnan Utilities.

Taste of Home Cooking School

Newnan Utilities hosts the Taste of Home Cooking School in the fall. As part of Taste of Home Magazine’s national program, we bring a professional home economist to Newnan to instruct audiences in the preparation of quick and easy recipes to please any family. Throughout the show, she shares great tips to make cooking faster and easier, something busy cooks appreciate. The show concludes with chances to win door prizes, including the dishes made during the show in the “Fabulous Food Finale.”

Because Cooking School has grown in popularity, we moved the event to the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts of Coweta County in 2004. Here, audiences enjoy the beautiful venue, with its high-tech audio visual equipment, so not a step is missed in any recipe. With the show selling out in a matter of days, we look forward to bringing this popular event to the community for many years to come.

Toy Run

Newnan Utilities has often helped Coweta County's foster children with a Toy Run motorcycle event. The fee for each rider was a new, unwrapped toy or $25, which was donated to make the holidays brighter for the county's foster children.
