About Your Bill

Newnan Utilities issues bills in 23 billing cycles. Your actual billing date will vary no more than one or two days during a month.

Your billing date is determined by your service location. All billing cycles are arranged geographically to make our meter reading system as efficient as possible. Our meter readers use a hand-held computer to enter meter readings. This device may ask for verification if the consumption appears to be abnormally high or low. Our meter reading accuracy is monitored and is consistently over 99%.

The amount of your bill is determined by the actual usage.

Power Cost Adjustment - This amount reflects the actual cost of fuel used to generate the electricity for that particular billing period. We cannot include all fuel costs in our base rates because the cost of fuel fluctuates from month to month. The Power Cost Adjustment allows us some flexibility to handle these cost fluctuations.

Tax
- As with all utilities in Georgia, a sales tax must be charged on your electric bill.

Payment Options - You may pay your bill by mail, in person at 70 Sewell Road, or by: Online Bill Pay

In addition to check or cash, we accept payment by Visa or MasterCard.

Budget Billing allows you to make equal monthly payments to help smooth the effect of higher bills for metered service during the peak summer and winter months. Under this plan, we calculate an annual billing amount for a location based on historical bills, and allow you to make an equal monthly payment for the year. At the end of the period, your account is analyzed and the budget payment is adjusted accordingly to reflect any changes in consumption patterns or rates. The actual amount of services consumed is billed in the system and the actual amount due is always available for comparison to the amounts paid through the budget plan.
To be eligible for Budget Billing, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be the home owner.
  • You must have at least 12 months of consumption history at the service location.
  • You must have no more than three late penalties during the 12 month consumption history being totaled and averaged.
  • Your account must be at a zero balance to set up a budget billing plan.
  • If eligible for the budget billing plan, you must complete and sign the Budget Billing form prior to the plan being set up.

Bank Draft - For customers who travel or simply prefer the convenience of not writing monthly checks, Newnan Utilities will automatically draft your local bank account for the net amount of your bill. For more information, please call our Customer Relations Department at 770-683-5516.

Senior Citizen Discount - For customers 65 years of age or older, whose annual income does not exceed $12,000, we extend a monthly $1.00 discount for cable TV and $7.50 for power.
