About Your Bill
How Our Billing Works
Newnan Utilities issues bills in 23 billing cycles. Your actual billing date will vary not more than one or two days during a month.
Your billing date is determined by your service location. All billing cycles are arranged geographically to make our meter reading system as efficient as possible. The amount of your bill is determined by the actual amount of consumption.
Taxes – As with all utilities in Georgia, a sales tax must be charged on your electric bill.

In Person Cash Payment Rounding Begins July 1
Beginning July 1, Newnan Utilities will round the amount collected for in-person cash payments to the nearest nickel. Learn More.
Do you need to make payment arrangments?
Per Newnan Utilities’ Terms and Conditions, payments are due 16 days from the statement date. Accounts not paid by the statement’s due date are considered past due and are subject to disconnection for non-payment. Newnan Utilities offers payment arrangement options for those who experience circumstances which prevent them from paying their bill on time.
The federal government has stopped producing new pennies. Although existing pennies will remain in circulation, their availability is expected to become increasingly limited.
Beginning July 1, Newnan Utilities will round the amount collected for in-person cash payments to the nearest nickel.
This change does not affect utility rates, charges or the amount shown on a customer’s bill. It applies only to the final amount collected when a customer pays with cash in person.
Payments made by check, debit card, credit card, ACH, bank draft or online will continue to be processed for the exact amount.
How cash payment rounding works
- Amounts ending in 1¢, 2¢, 6¢ or 7¢ will round down.
- Amounts ending in 3¢, 4¢, 8¢ or 9¢ will round up.
- Amounts ending in 0¢ or 5¢ will not change.
Examples
- A cash payment of $50.22 will round to $50.20.
- A cash payment of $50.23 will round to $50.25.
- A cash payment of $50.27 will round to $50.25.
- A cash payment of $50.28 will round to $50.30.
Customers who prefer to pay the exact amount may use any non-cash payment option. We appreciate our customers’ understanding as we adapt to the reduced availability of pennies.
